Paul Berg and his family are moving to Uganda! They are answering Jesus’ call to come and follow Him in carrying out the work on the Water Project in Ngenge. They left the U.S. on Saturday, August 15, 2009. Please pray for them as they embark on this magnificent adventure!

Cikaste Yesu! Praise Jesus! As of the date posted in the header, we have raised the following total amount in funds collected and pledged:

$75,063.61!

This represents 100.08% of our $75,000 goal to bring Water for Life to the people of Ngenge. Our missionary, Paul Berg, and his family are in Uganda NOW, as of mid-August (2009), to implement the project! Please pray that God will continue to move mightily.

Updated 08.21.09: Laps for Life: A Splashing Success!

Our Laps for Life swim-a-long was a splashing success! Swimmers of all ages gathered at the Montgomery East YMCA on Saturday, May 9, 2009, from 3:00 to 4:45 p.m. to swim laps to raise community awareness and funds for the Ngenge Water Project. Supporters cheered and prayed us on! We enjoyed a festive atmosphere, with an ongoing slideshow of Ngenge, Ugandan praise music, and bottles of water served during the event. Three swimmers swam 100 laps or more each! We swam a total of 1,369 laps and have raised $9,172.25 so far from our swim-a-long. (So far, because there are still $125 in pledges outstanding!) Here’s a breakdown of the laps swum:

The Ngenge Water Project

Thank you for your interest in Water for Uganda - the Ngenge Water Project.

God has given us an unprecedented opportunity to share in the fellowship of His suffering, through the suffering of His people in Uganda, in East Africa, in an area called Ngenge, in the lowlands off the slopes of Mt. Elgon, in the eastern part of the country bordered by Kenya. The increasing population of Ngenge has little to no water to survive. The water they do have is mostly contaminated, so that water-borne disease, from typhoid, dysentery, diarrhea, ensues, followed by death. Children are especially vulnerable. Although the land is fertile, the lack of water for irrigation precludes agriculture; their meager subsistence is mostly from charcoal making, from the few trees that are now left.

So much despair. Yet, so much hope! If they could just have water, they could live. They could grow crops. They could have a future. This project addresses Ngenge’s water problem in detail and proposes a God-inspired, lifechanging solution. You can play a part!
